Bell Pottinger Sans Frontières was launched in 2003 with a worldwide remit, reflecting the globalised market. It is the successor to Lowe Bell Consultants, established in the UK in 1987 by Tim Bell, which traded as Bell Pottinger Consultants for a period until 2003. It is thus the original and first business of the Chime Group. Tim has continued to be heavily involved throughout.
Over the years, highlights have included:
- The Guinness bid for Distillers.
- The Hanson bid for Imperial Tobacco.
- Sir James Goldsmith's bid for BAT.
- The first post-apartheid general elections in South Africa.
- President Yeltsin's second election in Russia.
- The 'Yes to Europe' campaign in Sweden.
- Most of Dr Mahatir's elections in Malaysia.
