Bell Pottinger Sans Frontières was launched in 2003 with a worldwide remit, reflecting the globalised market. It is the successor to Lowe Bell Consultants, established in the UK in 1987 by Tim Bell, which traded as Bell Pottinger Consultants for a period until 2003. It is thus the original and first business of the Chime Group. Tim has continued to be heavily involved throughout.

Over the years, highlights have included:

  • The Guinness bid for Distillers.
  • The Hanson bid for Imperial Tobacco.
  • Sir James Goldsmith's bid for BAT.
  • The first post-apartheid general elections in South Africa.
  • President Yeltsin's second election in Russia.
  • The 'Yes to Europe' campaign in Sweden.
  • Most of Dr Mahatir's elections in Malaysia.
